Self-Care ? Seriously?
To most people, “self-care”doesn’t make a lot of sense.
For the average person, self-care definitely don’t sound like something that they’d be doing on a weekday between rushing to pick up the kids, go to the grocery store and trying to prepare some sustenance for dinner.
Self-care sounds woo woo , too fluffy and like a waste of time. Many people feel Self-care is for the rich, who have afternoons free to get manicures and go shopping, eat bon-bons and watch movies all day, while the rest of us work and deal with reality.
Others think, Self-care is selfish and indulgent.
It probably involves really expensive weird stuff like avacodo facials, mud wraps or detoxing our pores with lavender steam.
Are you kidding me? Self-care?
Look at all these task I have to take care !
My boss needs this ASAP. My car needs maintenance, my dogs needs to get to the vet. Who has time for this self-care crap? Plus it sounds pricey.
So people think to themselves Self-Care is for the weak minded. Self-care is for people who aren’t tough enough. Self-care is letting yourself off the hook when you should take responsibility and getting stuff done.
Is this self-care some act of inclusiveness like everyone gets an award for playing?? So people think to themselves. I have high standards and I hold myself to them! Harden up and get on with it!
The truth is: Self-Care is not a luxury.
Self-Care is a necessity if you would like to stay sane, happy, and perform well. They are necessities if you would like to stay healthy and strong, to sustain meaningful relationships, and to have a fulfilling life.
At CoC Self-Care we know how important it is for you to have a balanced and successful life and career, so you can consistently serve others from your overflow. We take care of everybody else but ourselves, and this is so unfortunate.
We understand how not incorporating a well balanced self care routine can impact our ability in honoring our and others personal and professional integrity.
This eventually leads
-to increased conflict and less resolutions,
-the inability to form and build professional collaborative relationships
-incivility and burnout
But, the good news is Self-Care makes us better.
Recent studies on Self-Care show that regularly practicing self-care can actually;
* Makes us better at thinking, learning, problem-solving and reasoning
* Makes us perform better
* Makes us more motivated
* Makes us better at finding and fixing mistakes
* Makes us less stressed and less anxious, and thus more relaxed, and much less drained of energy and vitality
* Makes us more resilient and resourceful (because we see ourselves as allies and team members, and are able to use the capacities and skills we have)
* Makes us better at having fulfilling, meaningful, sustained relationships (because we can empathize and connect with others once we empathize and connect better with ourselves)
Because if you don’t take care of yourself, treat yourself with decency and respect, and be kind to yourself, who will?
